James
Abruzzo is a professor of nonprofit
management at Rutgers Business School.
From 1985 to 1990 James served on
the graduate faculty of Columbia
University in the arts management
program, and for the last 10 years,
he has had a teaching association
with the Institut fur Kultur und
Mediamanagement at the Frei Universitat
in Berlin. In the spring of 2009,
he taught a course that he developed
on arts leadership (related to Arts
Leadership) at the Universita`
di Bologna. He has spoken on various
topics related to arts leadership
at the Adenauer Foundation in Berlin,
the Goethe Institute in New York,
the International Society of Performing
Arts Administrators Conference in
Birmingham, England, and the American
Association of Museums, Dance USA,
the Performing Arts Center Consortium,
as well as dozens of other arts
conferences in the United States
and abroad. In the fall of 2008
James was a featured speaker on
two different occasions at arts
conferences in Berlin; one on the
topic of the comparison of cultural
management in New York and Berlin,
the other on arts leadership.
