For the last 30 years James Abruzzo has been actively involved in the management, consulting, research and teaching of nonprofit management. James manages a large consulting group of professionals who work with clients like the US Fund for UNICEF, St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, the George Eastman House, the United Negro College Fund, the America India Foundation, Gates Millennium Scholarship Fund, the Royal Opera House in Oman, Harvard and Stanford University, the National Museums of Science and Industry in London, the and other clients in Europe as well as Asia.

James’ work is in strategy, executive search, board governance, and leadership issues. Throughout his career, James has focused on leaders and the field of leadership: writing and speaking on the subject; recruiting leaders to nonprofit and education organizations; coaching and consulting with the leaders and boards of organizations; and educating and training the next generation of leaders. He has also authored numerous articles on trends in nonprofit cultural, social service, trade organizations and institutions of higher learning and is a frequent speaker at industry conferences. In addition to his position at Rutgers Business School, he teaches at the School of Economics, University of Bologna and the Free University in Berlin. James brings to his clients broad experience that comes from running successful businesses and co-directing an American university program. He seeks to influence the field through his consulting, search work and teaching and by working with other consulting organization.
